Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has regained his freedom after spending one week in prison.
The singer was released on Monday, January 19, 2026, after meeting his bail conditions. In a video that later surfaced on social media, Portable maintained his innocence, alleging that false accusations were made against him.
“I’m innocent. They lied against me,” he said.
Portable was remanded in custody last week following allegations of assault and theft levelled against him by his baby mama, Ashabi Simple, and her siblings. The dispute reportedly began on New Year’s Eve after a video showing a heated exchange between the singer and Ashabi went viral online.
Following the incident, Ashabi and her siblings accused Portable of assault and the theft of their vehicle, leading to his arrest.
He was subsequently arraigned before the Federal High Court sitting in Ota, Ogun State, on a nine-count charge bordering on theft, assault, causing harm, and resisting arrest. The presiding judge ordered his remand and fixed January 19, 2026, for a fresh bail hearing.
Portable’s release on Monday followed the fulfilment of the bail conditions set by the court.
