Africa Magic, organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), has officially opened submissions for the 12th edition of the prestigious continental film and television awards.

The entry window opened on Sunday, January 11, 2026, and will close on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Filmmakers and content creators from across Africa have been invited to submit their works for consideration.

The AMVCA is MultiChoice’s flagship initiative aimed at recognising and rewarding outstanding African storytelling across film and television. Over the years, the awards have become a key platform for celebrating creativity, innovation, and excellence within the continent’s entertainment industry.

The 12th edition is expected to further highlight the growth and global relevance of African film and television, while reinforcing the AMVCA’s status as the continent’s most prestigious awards ceremony.

In a bid to strengthen its pan-African representation, this edition introduces new Indigenous Language categories, including Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa, expanding opportunities for regional storytelling to gain recognition.

The upcoming AMVCA will feature a total of 32 award categories, comprising 18 jury-decided awards, 11 audience-voted awards, two Lifetime Achievement Awards, and one Trailblazer Award.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, in May 2026.
