Tinubu Assures Military of Improved Welfare, Logistics at Armed Forces Remembrance Event

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirmed to active-duty service members the federal government’s unwavering commitment to improving their living conditions, logistical support, and operational readiness.

The President stated that his government remains committed to ensuring that the armed forces are adequately equipped, motivated, and supported to effectively fulfill their constitutional duties.

Mr. Tinubu conveyed this assurance through Defense Minister, General (ret.) Christopher Musa, at a regimental dinner held at the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess in Asokoro, Abuja, to mark Armed Forces Day.

He described the event as far more than a mere ceremony, emphasizing that it embodies the essence of Nigeria’s military heritage. According to Mr. Tinubu, this celebration provides an opportunity to recognize the professionalism, courage, and resilience of active-duty officers and service members, while also commemorating the heroes who have fallen in service to national sovereignty.

Mr. Tinubu delivered this assurance through Defense Minister, General (ret.) Christopher Musa, at a regimental dinner held at the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess in Asokoro, Abuja, to mark Armed Forces Day. The President emphasized that Nigerian troops continue to meet complex, asymmetric threats with courage and professionalism, often under extremely difficult conditions. He added that the peace and security of the country are owed to the vigilance, sacrifice, and dedication of the armed forces.

Mr. Tinubu paid tribute to the officers and soldiers who died in combat, stating that their sacrifice is deeply ingrained in the Nigerian national consciousness. He also praised the families of the fallen soldiers, calling them silent pillars of national sacrifice whose resilience continues to inspire the nation.

General Christopher Musa Oluyede, Chief of the Army General Staff, described the regimental dinner at the event as one of the armed forces’ most cherished traditions, embodying remembrance, camaraderie, discipline, and pride in military service.

The Chief of Staff commended the courage and professionalism of Nigerian troops in various theaters of operation, emphasizing that their efforts have strengthened civil-military relations and increased public confidence in the armed forces.

He also highlighted the crucial role of family members of military personnel in maintaining morale and operational readiness, and emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach to national security that involves the whole of society through sustained cooperation between the military, other security forces, and local communities.
