Manchester United have appointed former midfielder Michael Carrick as their new caretaker manager until the end of the season.
Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development, stating that the agreement had been in place since the previous day and has now been fully concluded, including arrangements for Carrick’s backroom staff. An official announcement from the club is expected shortly.
“Michael Carrick signs in as new Manchester United caretaker manager until the end of the season. Verbal agreement since yesterday, now sorted in all details, including backroom staff. Official announcement to follow,” Romano wrote.
Carrick, who previously served as a coach at Manchester United after retiring as a player, returns to the Old Trafford dugout at a critical point in the club’s season. The former England international is expected to focus on stabilising the team’s performances and steering the club toward a strong finish.
The appointment marks a familiar return for Carrick, who enjoyed a highly successful playing career at United and remains a respected figure within the club.
