No fewer than 95 princes and princesses from the Fusengbuwa Ruling House have indicated interest in contesting the stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland.
The disclosure was made by the Olori Ebi of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, at the commencement of the ruling house’s nomination meeting held at the Bisi Rodipe Hall, GRA, Ijebu Ode.
Owoyemi, who is also known as Otunba Jadiara, said the nomination process marked the first stage in selecting a new Awujale following the turn of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.
Other leaders of the ruling house present at the meeting included the Deputy Olori Ebi, Otunba Ajidagba, and the Chairman, Chief Fassy Yusuf, among other prominent members.
Otunba Owoyemi explained that the names of candidates who successfully pass the initial screening would be forwarded to the Afobajes, the kingmakers responsible for selecting the next Awujale.
According to him, the Afobajes will choose one candidate from the list and forward the selected name to the Ogun State Government for final approval.
He added that any aggrieved members of the ruling house who are dissatisfied with the process have the right to submit their grievances to the state government through appropriate channels.
