The NLC chairperson accused the APC of using security forces to destabilize the state, insisting that the unions would resist such actions through legal means.

Reacting to the allegations, the spokesperson of the Osun Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, said he had not received any official report confirming the arrests. Local government workers returned to duty on Monday following a directive from the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), ending a strike that began on February 17, 2025. The industrial action was triggered by a protracted power struggle between presidents elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APC during the October 15, 2022 local government elections.
During the resumption of operations, a heavy security presence was observed in the Council secretariats, with access subject to strict controls and there were reports of alleged attempts to remove official documents.
