The Minister of Information and Guidance, Mohammed Idris, explained that the 2026 federal budget was structured to consolidate the acquis of the reform program under President Bola Tinubu, noting that the policy did not yield positive results.

Idris made these remarks in an official editorial post, “A defining moment for Nigeria: Maintaining the cap matters,” on Monday. The budget proposal has been described as a strategic tool to approve reforms and deliver policy outcomes with concrete benefits for Nigerians.

On December 19, 2025, President Tinubu presented the 2026 budget of 58,180 billion naira to a joint session of the National Assembly. The budget titled “Consolidation Budget, Enhanced Resilience and Shared Prosperity” includes 5,410 billion naira for defense and security, 3,560 billion naira for infrastructure, 3,520 billion naira for education and 2,480 billion naira for health.

For example, the proposal includes 26,080 billion naira for capital expenditure, 15,250 billion naira for current (additional) expenditure and 15,520 billion naira for service.

The real estate agency will strive to help the president adopt a well-oriented general real estate direction and regulation in January 2026 and achieve the end of the practice of residential space planning and development. It is said that the era of ongoing projects, general recommendations and standard procedures is ending.

Idris came home in 2026 for a flight of action, with the same policy measures for the future, a stabilizing political economy and an integrative perspective for construction work.

“There is no place for paper. You see things for things to be done in the daily life of the Nigerian,” the minister said and said about administering the economy, fighting inflation, and stronger foreign exchange reserves as first signs of progress.

It noted that the Tinubu administration’s 31-month tenure suggests that most difficult reforms are needed to address long-term economic stagnation and lay the foundation for sustained growth.

Taking into account the economic indicators, Idri stressed the importance of trust and transparent communication between government and citizens, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to inform Nigerians on policies, decisions and outcomes.

It is a series of additional social and economic initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods through commitment to the Nigerian Fund for Education, the Naturally Presiding Transport Cost Reduction Initiative and programs for the youth. These are the Employment and Workforce Program, the Jubilee Fellows Program and the 3 Million Talents Initiative.

With food security in mind, the ministry has approached the city for the recapitalization of the of the Bank of Agriculture and the expansion of agricultural mechanization efforts. It also refers to major infrastructure projects such as the coastal line, the Sokoto-Badagry highway, the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas line and the railway development companies with a view to improving connectivity and reducing logistics costs.

Idris takes care of security in one and at the same time, the general management of accounting, operation and international organization of security services and services of young retired students in the States of Lands and security studies.

The minister announced that he intends to reform his position, to advise Nigerians to engage by providing them with clear answers and precise information. It is true that it is for achieving  a long-term national prosperity.
