The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Abbas Tajudeen, has condemned the deadly attack that took place at Kasuwan Daji market in Demo area, Borgu local government area of Niger State. The bandits killed many people, abducted others and set the market on fire.
The speaker described the attack as a terror and atrocity, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of life and destruction caused by the incident.
In a statement issued on Monday, Mr. Tajudeen called on the security and intelligence agencies to fully implement the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to pursue and arrest the perpetrators of the attack. He urged law enforcement agencies to achieve a decisive result in this regard.
He also commended President Tinubu for his leadership at this critical juncture, and assured him that the House of Representatives is ready to support any necessary legislative action to strengthen security arrangements.
Abbas sympathised with the families of those killed in the attack and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured. He also extended condolences to the people and government of Niger State over the incident.

The Speaker also expressed his sorrow over another tragedy in Yobe State, where a boat accident in the town of Garbi, in the Nguru Local Government Area, killed 29 people and injured many others.
In a message of condolence, Abbas described the incident as devastating and called for strengthened safety measures to prevent such tragedies, particularly in the transport sector.
“This tragic incident has plunged families and communities into deep mourning,” he said, while praying for the souls of the deceased and for the speedy recovery of the injured.
He assured the people and government of Yobe State of the House of Representatives’ unwavering support and its commitment to supporting measures to prevent avoidable disasters throughout the country.
