Popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, has withdrawn the lawsuit he filed against the Ogun State Government and the Fusengbuwa ruling house over the selection process of the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

The withdrawal was confirmed on Wednesday by the Vice Chairman of the Fusengbuwa ruling house and the family’s legal representative, Prof. Fassy Yusuf. He disclosed that Ayinde filed a notice of discontinuance dated December 22 before the Ogun State High Court sitting in Ijebu Ode.

According to Prof. Yusuf, the musician informed the court of his decision not to pursue the case further and requested that the suit be discontinued. He said the notice was filed shortly after the court declined to grant Ayinde’s application for an interim injunction seeking to halt the Awujale selection process.

“I can confirm that Wasiu Ayinde has filed a notice of discontinuance of the suit instituted against Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Fusengbuwa ruling house, the Awujale Interregnum Administration Committee, the Chairman of Ijebu Ode Local Government and others,” Yusuf said.

He explained that when the matter came up on Monday, the presiding judge, Justice A. A. Omoniyi, refused to grant the interim injunction sought by the musician, describing the application as lacking merit. Following that ruling, Ayinde reportedly decided to withdraw the case.

The application for discontinuance is expected to be formally heard on January 14, 2026, which is the next adjourned date for the matter.

Ayinde had earlier expressed interest in the vacant Awujale stool, claiming lineage from the Jadiara Royal House within the broader Fusengbuwa ruling house. However, the Fusengbuwa ruling house, which is next in line to produce the Awujale, rejected the claim, maintaining that the musician does not belong to the royal house.

The Fuji star is widely believed to be from the Fidipote ruling house of Ijebu Ode, a background he has often referenced in his music.

To challenge his exclusion, Ayinde had approached the court seeking an interim injunction to restrain the state government, the Fusengbuwa ruling house, and other parties from taking further steps toward the selection and installation of the next Awujale pending the determination of the substantive suit.

Justice Omoniyi, however, ruled that there was no sufficient basis to grant the injunction and ordered an accelerated hearing of the substantive matter before Ayinde opted to discontinue the suit.
