The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to receive, deliberate on, and possibly ratify the report of the Osun State Screening Appeal Committee today. The report concerns seven governorship aspirants earlier disqualified from participating in the party’s upcoming primary election scheduled for Saturday.

The five-member appeal panel, chaired by Senator Tolu Odebiyi, concluded a two-day review of the petitions filed by the affected aspirants and is expected to present its findings at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.

Those who filed appeals include former APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore; former Deputy Governor Benedict Alabi; Dotun Babayemi; Akin Ogunbiyi; Senator Babajide Omoworare; Kunle Adegoke (SAN); and Babatunde Oralusi.

The initial screening exercise conducted by the Obinna Uzor-led committee had cleared only two aspirants—Mulikat Jimoh and Asiwaju Munirudeen Oyebamiji—for the primary after deeming them compliant with party guidelines, the party’s constitution, and the Electoral Act.

The seven disqualified aspirants were referred to the NWC for final consideration before any decision on their eligibility for the shadow election.

A member of the appeal panel, who spoke anonymously, confirmed that the committee had concluded its work and was finalizing its report for submission.

“We had fruitful sessions with all the affected aspirants. The exercise was peaceful, and each aspirant presented the required documents and evidence for their defence. It was essentially a family affair,” the panel member said.

He added that the completed report would be forwarded to the NWC through the office of the National Organising Secretary ahead of the committee’s meeting and subsequent deliberations.
