Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding the state’s agricultural sector and positioning it competitively on the global stage.

The governor made the commitment at the Oyo State International Agribusiness Summit 2025, held at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Ibadan.

The two-day summit, themed “Expanding the Oyo State Economy through Agricultural Industrialization,” brought together stakeholders across the agricultural value chain. Governor Makinde emphasized that Oyo State is prepared to deepen partnerships with local and international agricultural institutions to strengthen value-chain connectivity between farmers and final consumers.

The Director-General of the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), Dr. Debo Akande, also showcased key achievements of the present administration, noting significant progress in attracting agribusiness investments to the state.

According to him, several agro-based industries linked to both semi-urban and urban areas are contributing to food self-sufficiency, boosting the export of processed products, and increasing internally generated revenue for the state.

Dr. Akande added that the administration’s agribusiness-focused policies have continued to create opportunities for investors, strengthen markets, and enhance overall economic growth.
