Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), attributing his decision to the prolonged leadership crisis at the party’s national level.

Adeleke revealed his resignation in a statement posted on his Instagram page on Monday night. According to him, he had already submitted a formal resignation letter to party officials in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government, on November 4, 2025.

He wrote:
“Due to the ongoing crisis within the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, I formally informed the party executives in my ward of my resignation on November 4, 2025. I appreciate the party and its members for the opportunities I have enjoyed—first as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and now as the Governor of Osun State.”

Adeleke’s exit comes amid growing uncertainty over his political future within the party. Local party leaders had previously hinted that he might not seek the PDP’s ticket for the 2026 governorship election unless internal disputes were resolved.

They had also expressed optimism that a recognised resolution by the electoral commission could convince him to reconsider.

Adeleke’s resignation marks a significant development in Osun’s political landscape as the state heads toward another election cycle.
