Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has forwarded a new list of commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly as part of efforts to reconstitute his cabinet. The nominees are the same individuals who previously served as commissioners before the cabinet was dissolved on August 10, 2025.
According to a statement by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the decision to retain the former commissioners followed extensive consultations with the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in the state and other key stakeholders.
The statement noted that the choice was aimed at maintaining unity within the party ahead of the June 20, 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, adding that bringing in entirely new commissioners at this stage could be counterproductive.
It also recalled that party leaders, community representatives, and other stakeholders had worked closely with the governor’s screening committee during the selection and appointment of commissioners in 2023.
The statement reiterated that Governor Oyebanji remains committed to ensuring that party structures and community leaders play key roles in the appointment process to enhance accountability and ownership across the state.
