Oyo Assembly Confirms Dr. Babatunde Adeniyi as New OYSIEC Chairman

The Oyo State House of Assembly has confirmed Dr. Babatunde Adeniyi as the new chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC). The Assembly also approved the appointments of Chief Kunmi Agboola, Mr. Olanrewaju Emmanuel, Mr. Sunday Falana, Hon. Remi Ayoade, Mr. Olatunde Theophilus, Mrs. Adebayo Muriana and Mr. Babatunde Ige as members of the Commission.

The confirmation followed the adoption of the screening report presented by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammed Fadeyi, who noted that all nominees answered their questions satisfactorily and were found worthy of the roles.

Speaking after the plenary, Dr. Adeniyi thanked Governor Seyi Makinde and the Assembly for the opportunity and said the Commission would begin work immediately after inauguration. He assured that the next local government elections would be conducted strictly in line with existing electoral laws and with full respect for electoral integrity.
