The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced the appointment of Superintendent Route Commander Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole as its new Public Education Officer. The appointment takes immediate effect, marking a key reshuffle within the command’s public information structure.

Odunsi-Oyewole succeeds the late Florence Okpe, who served as the public spokesperson until her passing on October 28 after a brief illness. Her death was a major loss to the corps, as she was widely respected for her professionalism, dedication, and strong partnership with the media.

The Sector Commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin, formally introduced Odunsi-Oyewole as the officer now responsible for coordinating the command’s public engagement, safety enlightenment campaigns, and communication with motorists and residents across the state.

According to the announcement, Odunsi-Oyewole, a native of Lagos State, holds a Master’s degree in Personnel Psychology and has served in multiple FRSC formations across the country. His experience in public education, operational supervision, and community engagement is expected to boost the command’s visibility and enhance ongoing safety advocacy efforts.

The command described him as a “seasoned officer” with a track record of professionalism and commitment to road safety management. His appointment is expected to strengthen the interface between the FRSC and the public, especially at a time when the state continues to witness heavy vehicular movement and increasing road safety concerns.

The Ogun Sector Command appealed to residents, motorists, transport unions, and community stakeholders to extend full cooperation to the new Public Education Officer. It reaffirmed its commitment to sustained enlightenment campaigns, accident reduction strategies, and continuous engagement aimed at ensuring safer roads for all users.

The FRSC further noted that Odunsi-Oyewole will lead the command’s safety sensitisation initiatives during the approaching festive and ember months, a period often associated with increased road crashes due to higher traffic volume and reckless driving.
