Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a major realignment in his political trajectory as he prepares for the 2027 general elections.
On Monday, Atiku publicly shared a photo of himself holding his new ADC membership card on X, writing simply: “It’s official.” His move comes months after he resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing irreconcilable differences with its leadership.
Atiku’s transition into the ADC consolidates his role in the opposition coalition that has adopted the party as its platform ahead of the 2027 elections.
Other prominent figures, including former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, have also aligned with the coalition, signaling a united front against the ruling party.
By formally joining the ADC, Atiku is reinforcing his commitment to this new political vehicle.
