Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Kebbi State to meet with state officials and the families of schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga.

Shettima landed at Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi and was accompanied by Zubaida Umar, Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), along with other government officials.

The Vice President’s visit, directed by President Bola Tinubu, is aimed at conveying the President’s message to the people of Kebbi and receiving briefings on the situation for onward reporting to the President.

The attack on the school on Monday claimed the life of Vice Principal Malam Hassan Makuku, who was reportedly killed while attempting to prevent the abduction of the students. Following the incident, a combined tactical team has been deployed to search the surrounding forests for the missing girls.

In response to the tragedy, President Tinubu condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the affected families. He also postponed his scheduled trips to South Africa and Angola to attend the 20th G20 Summit and the 7th AU-EU Summit, respectively, to remain updated on the situation.
