The Nyesom Wike-backed faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has convened an emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the Board of Trustees (BoT) following the suspension and expulsion of prominent party members during the party’s National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
During the convention, the PDP expelled former FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade, Austin Nwachukwu and several others for alleged anti-party activities.
In a notice issued by Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary of the Wike-aligned faction, members of the NEC and BoT were invited to an emergency session scheduled for Tuesday at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
The statement reads in part:
“The members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT) are hereby invited to an emergency meeting scheduled as follows:
Date: Tuesday, November 18, 2025
Venue: NEC Hall, PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja
Time: BoT – 11:00 a.m.; NEC – 2:00 p.m.”
The notice stressed that attendance is crucial as “important issues will be discussed and addressed.”
The Nation earlier reported that the Umar Damagum-led PDP leadership ratified the expulsion of Wike, Fayose, Anyanwu, and others, attributing the decision to persistent anti-party activities and actions deemed injurious to the party’s unity.
The emergency meeting is expected to deliberate on the implications of the Ibadan convention decisions and strategize on next steps for the faction amid deepening internal crisis.
