The Kebbi State Government has confirmed the attack on Maga Comprehensive Girls Secondary School (GGCSS) in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, where terrorists abducted an unverified number of female students during a late-night raid.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, confirmed the incident on Monday, saying the government was still compiling full details of the assault.

The attack, which occurred on Sunday night, left the school’s vice principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku, dead. Several others sustained injuries as students fled into nearby bushes in an attempt to escape.

Deputy Governor Umar Tafida visited the school on Monday in company with top government officials and security operatives to assess the scene and coordinate an immediate response.

Security agencies have since launched a manhunt for the attackers, with additional personnel deployed to secure the area and support ongoing rescue operations.

The state government said it is also liaising with families of the abducted students while ensuring that those injured are receiving medical attention.

Governor Nasir Idris condemned the attack, describing it as a “heartbreaking assault on education and public safety.” He assured that security agencies have intensified efforts to rescue the schoolgirls and prevent further incidents across the state.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with authorities as investigations and rescue operations continue.
