The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a major reduction in the 2026 Hajj fare, following the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to make the holy pilgrimage more affordable for Nigerian Muslims.
According to the new figures released by the commission, pilgrims across all operational zones will benefit from a substantial cut in costs—ranging from ₦748,000 to ₦792,000—depending on their departure zone.
The Southern Zone recorded the highest reduction of ₦792,943.83, bringing the new fare to ₦7,991,141.76, down from ₦8,784,085.59.
For the Northern Zone, the fare has been reduced by ₦760,915.83, with pilgrims now expected to pay ₦7,696,769.76.
Meanwhile, those in the Borno and Adamawa Zone, which enjoys the lowest Hajj cost nationwide, will now pay ₦7,579,020.96, representing a decrease of ₦748,104.63.
NAHCON stated that the downward review aligns with President Tinubu’s commitment to easing the financial burden on intending pilgrims and ensuring wider participation in the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The commission also announced December 5 as the deadline for payment of the new fares.
