President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday administered the oath of office to two newly appointed ministers — Bernard Doro and Kingsley Udeh — during a brief ceremony at the State House in Abuja, held just before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

Bernard Doro, from Plateau State, has been appointed as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, succeeding Nentawe Yilwatda, who stepped down from the position following his election as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Doro’s appointment was confirmed by the Senate toward the end of October after a thorough vetting process.

Kingsley Udeh, the new Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, takes over from Uche Nnaji, who resigned from the cabinet. Udeh’s nomination was screened and approved by the Senate earlier on the same day. Prior to joining the federal cabinet, he served as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State, where he was recognised for his work in judicial reforms and public sector innovation.

During the Federal Executive Council meeting that followed the swearing-in, the council observed a minute of silence in honour of two distinguished Nigerians who recently passed away — Solomon Ewuga and Abdullahi Mohammed Adangba.

Solomon Ewuga was a respected statesman who served as Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory under President Olusegun Obasanjo, as well as Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator for Nasarawa North, and Ambassador to Angola. Abdullahi Mohammed Adangba, who died at the age of 86, was a seasoned public servant and former Chief of Staff to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

The FEC meeting was attended by several top government officials, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Head of the Civil Service, Didi Walson-Jack; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and a wide array of federal ministers.

President Tinubu congratulated the new appointees and charged them to bring renewed energy and commitment to their portfolios, emphasizing the administration’s focus on delivering results that directly impact citizens and strengthen national development.
