The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and other partners, has received 150 Nigerian returnees from Agadez, Niger Republic.
The returnees arrived at the Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at about 5:20 a.m., under the Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) initiative supported by the Federal Government.
According to NEMA, officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) conducted biometric registration and documentation on arrival to ensure proper identification and smooth reintegration into the country.
The returnees were later transported to Bizare Hotel Luxury Apartments in Kano for accommodation and profiling.
The group comprised 88 adult males, 32 adult females, 14 male children, and 16 female children.
NEMA said the Federal Government remains committed to ensuring the safe, dignified, and humane return of Nigerians stranded abroad.
Each returnee received immediate humanitarian support, including food, potable water, medical care, ambulance services, and logistics assistance.
The agency noted that the operation was jointly coordinated by NEMA, IOM, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), and other key stakeholders to ensure an orderly and humane reception process.
