The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has unveiled an artificial intelligence-powered virtual assistant designed to boost staff training and operational readiness ahead of the Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 8.
The new digital tool, known as the INEC Training Virtual Assistant (INECTrainingBot), was launched on Friday and is now available on Telegram.
According to the commission, the INECTrainingBot provides 24-hour access to election materials, interactive lessons, and on-demand learning modules, allowing electoral officers to train flexibly, from any location and at their own pace.
INEC stated that the initiative is part of its efforts to leverage technology in improving the capacity of its personnel and stakeholders ahead of the election.
“INECTrainingBot offers flexible, on-demand access to essential election training, ensuring our team can learn smarter and be fully equipped for their critical roles,” the commission said.
Key features of the tool include 24/7 accessibility, a user-friendly interface on Telegram, and mobile-friendly, on-the-go learning.
In addition to the launch, INEC announced that the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for voters who participated in the recent Continuous Voter Registration exercise in Anambra State will take place from October 22 to October 26.
The commission also disclosed that a mock accreditation exercise will be conducted on Saturday, October 25, in selected polling units across the three senatorial districts of the state.
The mock exercise aims to test the functionality of the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and assess the real-time uploading of results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) in preparation for the November election.
