Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has dismissed claims of a rift between him and his political mentor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, insisting that those attempting to cause division between them will not succeed.
Speaking in Madobi on Tuesday during an event marking Kwankwaso’s 69th birthday, Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his loyalty to the former governor and pledged to uphold the ideals of the Kwankwasiyya movement.
“Those within and outside trying to create a quarrel between me and our leader, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will not succeed. We will continue to follow the legacy and principles of the Kwankwasiyya movement because Kwankwaso is a God-given leader,” Yusuf said.
He described Kwankwaso as a visionary whose leadership continues to shape Kano’s development and prayed for his long life and good health.
In recent months, speculations of tension between the duo emerged following reports of a group known as “Abba Tsaya da Kafarka” (Abba Stand on Your Feet), allegedly pushing for greater autonomy for Governor Yusuf’s administration. The group was said to be led by former government officials, including Dr. Baffa Bichi and Alhaji Salisu Digol.
However, the governor’s latest remarks appear to dispel such rumours, reaffirming his commitment to Kwankwaso’s political ideology and the continued alliance that brought the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to power in Kano State.
