Argentina will face Morocco in the final of the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup after both teams secured victories in their semi-final matches. Argentina defeated Colombia 1–0 on Thursday at the Estadio Nacional de Santiago. The only goal of the match came in the 74th minute when Gianluca Prestianni created space on the right wing and delivered a precise assist to Mateo Silvetti, who finished from the center of the box. Colombia’s chances were further weakened after a late red card, and they were unable to find an equalizer despite increased pressure in the final minutes.
This victory marks Argentina’s eighth appearance in the final of the tournament. The Albicelestes have previously won the competition a record six times and will look to add a seventh title to their collection.
Morocco, on the other hand, made history by reaching their first-ever U-20 World Cup final. They became the third African nation to achieve this feat, following in the footsteps of Ghana and Nigeria. In their semi-final against France at the Elías Figueroa Brande Stadium, the match ended 1–1 after 120 minutes of intense football. Morocco initially took the lead in the 32nd minute when a penalty by Yassir Zabiri deflected off French defender Lisandru Olmeta for an own goal. France equalized in the second half through Lucas Michal in the 59th minute, and the score remained level until the end of extra time.
In the penalty shootout, Morocco converted six of their spot-kicks, while France managed five. Successful Moroccan takers included Younes El Bahraoui, Ilias Boumassaoudi, Yassir Zabiri, Mohamed Hamony, Saad El Haddad, and Byar, securing a place in the final.
France will now face Colombia in the third-place playoff on Saturday, October 18, while Argentina and Morocco will meet in the championship match on Monday, October 20.
