The Federal Government has announced the cancellation of the Independence Anniversary parade that had been scheduled to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

The announcement was made in a press release issued on Monday and signed by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Imohiosen did not give a reason for the decision to cancel the parade but said it will not diminish the significance of the anniversary.

The Federal Government called on Nigerians, members of the diplomatic community, and invited guests to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform agenda.

Independence Anniversary parade is one of the activities lined up for the celebration tagged “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”

Earlier, Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, a public holiday to mark the 65th anniversary.
