OYO ASSEMBLY EXPLAINS N300BN MAKINDE’S LOAN

The Oyo State House of Assembly has dismissed as false the allegations made by Honorable Ibrahim Shittu, member representing Saki West State Constituency, over the recent emergency plenary session.
Hon. Shittu had claimed that the session was secretly convened to approve a 300 billion naira loan request from the executive without proper notification of members.
In a statement issued to newsmen, the Assembly described his remarks as misleading and a reflection of what it called a complete disconnect from legislative responsibilities.
The Assembly clarified that the ₦300 billion loan request comprises ₦149 billion meant for refinancing an existing loan facility, while the remaining ₦151 billion represents a fresh request to support infrastructure projects and contractors’ financing.
