Shooting Stars assistant coach, Olowokere, slumps, dies during training

Tragedy struck this morning as Akin Olowokere, the newly appointed Assistant Coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Ibadan, slumped and died during a training session.

Olowokere, a former player and coach of Sunshine Stars FC of Akure, was one of the recent additions to the 3SC coaching crew following the club’s decision to part ways with the Gbenga Ogunbote-led technical team.

According to reports, the incident occurred during the team’s early morning training session. Olowokere reportedly collapsed on the pitch and was immediately attended to by medical staff before being rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.

The late coach was a well-known figure in Nigerian football, having enjoyed a long playing career with Sunshine Stars before transitioning into coaching.

Olowokere’s sudden passing has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian football community, with tributes pouring in from colleagues, fans, and clubs.
