Hundreds of commuters plying the ever busy Sango-Eleyele Road in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, are currently stranded.

The protest was triggered by Governor Seyi Makinde’s recent announcement to rename the institution. Just a few days ago, the governor revealed plans to change the school’s name from The Polytechnic Ibadan to Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan.

He served between October and December 1983.

It reports that students of the institution are currently protesting the renaming of the institution.

The students in the early hours of Tuesday blocked the entrance gates of the institution.

They also blocked the ever busy Sango -Eleyele Road.

This has left many commuters, local residents, and even staff of the polytechnic unable to reach their destinations.

Some staff members were also seen stranded outside the school premises, unable to gain access due to the protest.
