The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has said that he and all major stakeholders in Rivers State have agreed to work with the suspended governor of the state, Sim Fubara.
Wike made this known while speaking to journalists following a peace meeting mediated by President Bola Tinubu on Thursday night.
According to a post by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, shared on his official X account, the closed-door meeting was attended by President Tinubu, Governor Fubara, Wike, and several lawmakers from Rivers State
“We thank God and to his glory that today, which is June 26, 2025, peace has finally returned to Rivers State,” Wike told reporters after the meeting.
“We have all agreed to work together with the governor, and the governor has also agreed to work with all of us. We are members of the same political family.
“Just like humans, we will have our disagreements, but then, you will also have a time to settle your disagreements, and that has been finally concluded today.
“We have come to report to Mr. President that this is what we have agreed upon. For me, everything is over and I will enjoin everybody who believes in working with us to also work together with everybody and that there is no acrimony. Everything is over. It’s a day we have to thank the Almighty.”
The reconciliation meeting, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, marked a turning point in the political standoff between Wike and Fubara a conflict that began in 2023 over political differences.
