The Federal Government has announced full closure of the Ijora Bridge in Lagos, starting from April 27 2025.
The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mrs Olukorede Kesha, made this known during an inspection of the bridge on Monday.
While acknowledging the disruption the closure may cause, she emphasized that the move is critical for ensuring the safety of commuters and preventing further deterioration of the Ijora Bridge.
Kesha emphasised the importance of the Ijora Bridge as a major route leading to Apapa, home to two of Nigeria’s busiest ports, Tincan and Apapa ports.
She further reassured the public that the Federal Ministry of Works has put in place a well-coordinated traffic management plan, including several carefully planned diversion routes.
