GOV MAKINDE UNVEILS NEW ALAAFIN, OBA OWOADE

The Oyo state Governor,Engineer Seyi Makinde has officially unveiled Oba Abimbola Owoade as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo during a coronation ceremony in Oyo town.

Alaafin Abimbola Owoade who was born 47 years ago into the prominent royal family of Owoade-Agunloye in Oyo town succeeded Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III

Speaking at the ceremony Governor Makinde reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and respecting due process in the selection of traditional institutions in the state.

Owoade succeeds the 45th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who died on April 22, 2022, at the age of 83.

The staff of office had earlier been presented to the new king by the Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde, in January.

He completed the compulsory 21-day traditional rites known as Oro Ipebi last Saturday, March 29.
