President Bola Tinubu has appointed Bashir Ojulari as the new Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, effective from today April 2, 2025.

The appointment comes after the president sacked Mele Kyari and also dissolved the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, removing the Chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure.

The Special Adviser to the President on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who announced this in a statement, also said that the president approved the appointment of six non-executive directors from each geopolitical zone including Dr. David Ige who hails from Oyo state.

He added that all the appointments are effective today, April 2, 2025.

Kyari was first appointed NNPC chief by former President Muhammadu Buhari but was reappointed in 2023 by President Tinubu.
