The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Étè Ibas has said that his mission is to restore law and order, stabilise the polity and create the necessary environment for the full restoration of democratic institutions.
Ibas made this known in a broadcast, hours after he assumed office at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The Administrator also vowed to protect the people of Rivers and ensure lasting peace.
President Tinubu commended the lawmakers for their “decisive and patriotic” ratification of the proclamation, which he described as a crucial step toward restoring stability in Rivers after a long period of political turmoil.
The President, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, praised the Senate President, the Speaker, and other principal officers for giving priority to the security and welfare of Rivers.
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has forecast sunshine and haziness across the country from today till Sunday. In a weather outlook it released, NiMet noted that later during the afternoon/evening hours of today, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Rivers state, among others.
