GOVERNOR MAKINDE CONDEMNS DECLARATION OF STATE OF EMERGENCY IN RIVERS

Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has condemned the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.

In his latest biweekly newsletter published, Governor Makinde described the move as unconstitutional and called on well-meaning Nigerians to oppose it.

The Oyo Governor emphasised the need to uphold democratic principles, regardless of personal opinions or political affiliations.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and suspended the governor, Similayi Fubara; his deputy Ngozi Odu, as well as the House of Assembly for six months.

The President then appointed Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (Rtd.) as Sole Administrator for the state.
