SOUTHWEST GOVERNORS TO SET UP JOINT SPECIAL SECURITY OUTFIT, FOOD HUBS

Governors from the south-west geopolitical zone have resolved to establish a joint surveillance team to combat insecurity in the region.

The governors, under the aegis of the Southwest Governors’ Forum also agreed to establish joint food hubs to address the growing food inflation and associated challenges, which engender regional security.

The Chairman of the forum and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, announced the resolutions while reading the communique issued at the end of a meeting held at the Lagos State House in Alausa, Ikeja.

Following this development, the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and socio-political organization, Afenifere, has commended the southwestern state governors over their decision to establish a Joint Surveillance Monitoring Team.

Afenifere, however, urged the governors not to let this be at the level of mere postulation or rhetoric but to actualize the decision by procuring and deploying modern equipment for the purpose of detecting security threats.
