OONI, GANI ADAMS HAIL OWOADE’S EMERGENCE AS ALAAFIN-DESIGNATE

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, has lauded the appointment of Abimbola Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo.

In a statement issued by Moses Olafare, director of Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Ile-Ife, Osun State, the Ooni of Ife called on Owoade to prioritise the preservation of Yoruba culture and traditions.

Adams, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Kehinde Aderemi, said it was a thing of joy that the vacuum left behind by the death of the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi had been filled.

It will be recalled that the governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, announced Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo. 

Owoade’s appointment comes over two years since the death of Lamidi Adeyemi who was Alaafin from 1970 to 2022.
