A Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the suit against 76 persons charged over the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest.
The Trial Judge, Justice Obiora Egwuatu, struck out the suit following an application by the counsel to the Attorney General of the Federation, M. D Abubakar , to take over and discontinue the suit.
This development follows President Bola Tinubu’s directive to the Attorney-General of the Federation on Monday to ensure the immediate release of the minors.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who disclosed this, said President Tinubu issued the directive after examining the circumstances surrounding the cases, and emphasised the importance of balancing legal processes with humanitarian concerns.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has also ordered an investigation into allegations of mistreatment of the minors, especially as a number of them were said to have collapsed during a court session last Friday.
