A Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the remand of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The Central Bank of Nigeria has raised the monetary policy rate to 27.50 per cent from 27.25 per cent. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor Yemi Cardoso announced this in Abuja during the last MPC meeting of the year at the apex bank’s headquarters. This followed the meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC).  The monetary policy rate measures the benchmark interest rate.

President Bola Tinubu has requested the Senate to confirm the appointment of Lieutenant-General Olufemi Oluyede as the substantive Chief of Army Staff. The president’s request is contained in a letter read by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio during plenary today. President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited on the successful revitalisation of the Port Harcourt Refinery. The president also urged the firm to expedite the scheduled reactivation of the second Port Harcourt refinery and the Warri and Kaduna refineries.
