In a bid to tackle the excruciating hardship and high cost of living in Nigeria, the federal government on Saturday, May 10, 2024 flagged off the distribution of ten thousand bags of rice in Oyo state.
The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu who flagged off the palliative distribution at the Adelabu Foundation Headquarters at Jericho, Ibadan said that the program was part of President Bola Tinubu’s administration renewed hope alive food security initiative to cushion the effect of economic hardship on Nigerians.
The beneficiaries, according to the minister, were compound heads popularly called Mogajis in Ibadanland, the market association,the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, professional bodies as well as students among others.
Adelabu further explained that President Tinubu is aware of the current situation of peoples’ living condition due to to the harsh economy, assuring that citizens would continue to enjoy the dividends of his administration.
The minister said, ”President Tinubu has decided to give us our own share in Oyo state, the palliative has no political connection but a furtherance of his good administration.
“We will ensure transparency in the palliative distribution and cut across every religious, traditional, ethnic associations and other residents in the state.
“This is phase one of the food security as part of the Renewed Hope Initiative of president Bola Tinubu, we shall be witnessing the distribution regularly and as much as we get supply from Abuja, we shall not hoard it but distribute it evenly.”
