Some Ibadan residents on Monday trooped out in large numbers to protest the current state of living, appealing to the federal government for quick intervention.
The protest started around 7am at the Mokola area of Ibadan where many youths converged with placards bearing various inscriptions such as “end food hike and inflation’”among others to show their grievances.
There was heavy presence of security personnel who were on standby to ensure that the protest was not hijacked by hoodlums.
The protest in the state followed others in kano, Ogun, Kwara, Niger, Sokoto over the economic hardship in the country occasioned by the petrol subsidy removal, food inflation and high cost of living.
The police in Oyo state had earlier issued a statement warning people of the state to steer of any protest as such could be hijacked by faceless agents if mischief.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC) Trade Union Congress (TUC) have declared that they would embark on a nationwide mass protest on February 27 and 28 over the economic hardship being faced by Nigerians.
